Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at Camp Downer? Would you like to investigate and write an article for our daily newspaper, The Downer Daily? If so, sign up for Journalism!

Each day you will meet with your fellow reporters and your editor (a counselor) to brainstorm ideas for articles for that day’s edition of The Downer Daily. After deciding what informed campers need to know, you will work with other members of your team interviewing staff members and campers, investigating rumors, digging up dirt, developing human interest stories, etc. On occasion, you may work with a member of the cartooning program to create a cartoon related to your story. Your daily Journalism period will end with you and a fellow reporter writing a short article which will be published in that day’s edition.

By the end of the day, your article will appear in “The Downer Daily”, which will be posted in a variety of locations around camp. If you are an aspiring journalist or if you want to find out what is really happening at camp, this is the program for you!

Eligibility Criteria: This program is open to all campers.
